1. Scope
1.1
This Standard includes requirements for floor, area, and shower drains, and floor cleanouts that are used in residential construction, as defined in Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC).
1.2
This Standard includes requirements for materials, outlet connections, integral traps, and tests for top loading, water tightness of backwater valves and cleanouts, and identification marking.
1.3
Drains and cleanouts and roof drains used in nonresidential construction were not considered in the development of this Standard.
1.4
Notes to the text do not include mandatory or alternative requirements. The purpose of a note is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material that is not properly a part of the Standard. Notes to figures and tables are to be considered as part of the figure or table and written as mandatory requirements. Legends to figures are to be considered mandatory requirements.
