Scope

Capacity This Standard applies to stationary storage tank water heaters having a capacity of 175 or 270 L and intended for use on pressure systems in residential premises and similar locations. For convenience, the shorter term ""water heater"" is used herein.
The standby loss calculation may be applied to stationary storage tank water heaters having a capacity of 50 to 454 L.

Delivery and Standby Performance This Standard specifies delivery and standby performance for electric water heaters, rated tank capacities (see Clause 1.1), heater element ratings, and marking.

Units of Measure The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard.
