1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to hermetic refrigerant motor- compressors (hereinafter referred to as motor-compressors) rated 7200 V or less, for use in air-conditioning and refrigerating equipment that comply with the Standards applicable to such equipment.
1.2
This Standard also applies to motor protection systems that may be provided with motor-compressors.
1.3
This Standard does not include additional requirements applicable to equipment designed for use in hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-1996, and the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
