Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to refrigerant-containing components intended to be used in field installed systems in accordance with CSA Standard B52, Mechanical Refrigeration Code, charged with the refrigerant identified for use in the components.

1.2 This Standard applies to components intended for use in factory assembled refrigeration or air-conditioning equipment, in which cases the components shall also comply with those requirements of the CSA Part II Standards which are pertinent to the intended application.

1.3 This Standard applies to components such as accumulators, compressors, condensers, evaporators, dryers, filters, heat-exchangers, oil separators, liquid receivers, mufflers, liquid indicators, vibration eliminators, strainers, fusible plugs, and rupture members.

1.4 This Standard applies to pressure vessels that have (a) less than 152 mm inside diameter, with no restriction on internal volume; or (b) less than 0.0425 cubic meters internal volume, with no restriction on inside diameter.

1.5 This Standard does not apply to the electrical components of assemblies incorporating refrigerant-containing components.

1.6 This Standard does not apply to refrigerant-containing components that are within the scope of CSA Standard B51, Code for the Construction and Inspection of Boilers and Pressure Vessels.
