1. Scope
This Specification applies to machine tools, not portable by hand, (but which may have certain portable parts), having electrical equipment mounted thereon and designed to be installed and employed in accordance with the rules of Part I of this Code.,,
It does not apply to: (a) Machine tools which produce hazardous atmospheres due to their operation and therefore require the use of electrical equipment suitable for such locations;,, (b) The mechanical features of machine tools, except as these affect the electrical equipment used in connection with such machines;,, (c) Woodworking machines;
,, (d) Portable electric tools (e.g., drills, hammers, etc.) covered i n the latest issue of Specification C22.2 No. 71, ""Portable Electric Tools"";,, (e) Welding or gas-cutting machines.
Machines used for both woodworking and metalworking are required to comply with this Specification and also with any special requirements for woodworking machines.,,
NOTE: The Approvals Laboratories will, at its discretion, use this Specification in the approval of other types of machines not specifically covered by other individual Specifications of Part II of this Code insofar as its requirements may be applicable.
