This is the first edition of CSA SPE 17, HVAC guide for Part 9 homes. CSA Group acknowledges that the development of this Guide was made possible, in part, by the financial support of BC Hydro, FortisBC, BC Housing, and the City of Vancouver. This Guide was prepared and reviewed by the Development Committee on HVAC Guide for Part 9 Homes. 

Scope 

This Guide highlights the benefits of best practices in proper design, sizing, installation, and commissioning for HVAC systems with a focus on practical information for building industry practitioners to apply knowledge from the Guide to support new construction and major renovation projects. This Guide also provides useful industry resources, supporting tools, and technical information. This Guide may be used as a technical reference document for Part 9 new residential buildings, incorporating illustrations, resources, and tools to assist with knowledge transfer and application. It has also been designed to guide collaboration between the builders, designers, tradespersons, and suppliers with respect to integration of sizing, design installation, and performance verification.
