1. Scope
1.1
This Standard covers requirements for establishing and maintaining the certification of welding inspection org anizations. These requirements apply to each welding inspection centre seeking certification.
1.2
This Standard provides for organizations to be certified for the inspection of one or more product categories and for the use of one or more inspection methods.
1.3
All welding inspection and testing done by a certified welding inspection organization shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of this Standard unless otherwise specified or agreed to by the authority having jurisdiction over the work to be inspected. Such an arrangement shall also have the agreement of both the purchaser and the welding inspection organization.
1.4
This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the inspection of weldments.
1.5
This Standard includes specific clauses to integrate the requi rements of certification with those of the Canadian General Standards Board with respect to personnel performing radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and eddy current tests.
1.6
This Standard includes requirements for the maintenance and calibration of inspection equipment.
1.7
This Standard includes requirements for the management of inspection records.
