This standard gives directions and requirements for safe and good design of artificial lighting in workrooms with or without daylight on the basis of the specific characteristics of work and conditions. The requirements of the standard applies to persons with normal sight. For persons with sight defects or reduced sight caused by age, the methods can still be used but specific considerations have to be taken to meet the needs of the persons in question. The use of the standard implies, that it must be decided, which of the mentioned methods and requirements there are valid for the lighting system in question. In Chapter 3 is mentioned a number of requirements, which gives certain options. In Chapter 4 the requirements are unambigious and indispensable. The standard does not include outdoor working places and special working rooms and -places in hospitals, dental consulting rooms or sport fields.
