The standard specifies a gas-liquid chromatography (GLC)/head space method for the determination of 1,4-dioxane in alkyl ethoxysulfate products. The method is applicable to samples containing 1,4-dioxane in the range 5 mg/kg to 100 mg/kg. Flame ionization detection and either an internal standard or standard addition method are employed.
