The standard describes a field test method for determining the relative effectiveness of wood preservatives that are applied by vacuum/pressure impregnation or other means giving complete penetration in order to prevent degradation of timber in ground contact by microorganisms. This method may also be used in areas in which a termit hazard exists. The protective effect of the test preservative is assessed in relation to the effect on a reference preservative applied by a standard preservative.
