This standard provides a set of technical specifications and organizational policies to be implemented for capture, archival and access of digital documents); ensuring legibility, integrity and traceability of this document for the duration of their preservation and use. This standard is applicable to permanent archives and therefore does not refer to systems in which users have the ability to substitute or alter documents after capture. Digital documents may result from a scanning process of original paper or microform, or from conversion of analog audio or video image content, or be created ‘natively’ by an information system application, or from other sources that create digital content that is to be managed by the archive including but not limited to other digital content such as audio, video image, two- or three- dimensional maps, drawings or designs, and medical X-rays.
