This International Standard gives names, symbols, and units for physical quantities within the field of design of structures. It covers physical quantities in a general sense. With the help of the presented kernel-index-method it is possible to form (compound) symbols of particular physical quantities related to a particular material and/or a particular technical field of the design of structures. In Annex A (informative) 'generic quantities' which are genuine to this field are introduced.
