The standard specifies a method for multipoint sampling of pulverized coal suspended in air or other gases, conveyed in circular pipes between pulverizer and burners in direct fired coal systems in power stations. The samples collected are used for deriving the mass distribution of coal between the burners and the particle size distribution of the coal with the object of determining the performance of a pulverizer.
