This European Standard specifies general safety requirements for miniature connecting devices hereafter referred to as accessories, with a rated current of max 16 A and a rated voltage of 250 V a.c. 50/60 Hz single phase, applied for the connection or interconnection of mains supplied equipment in road vehicles, e.g. to supply electrical pre-heaters for engines, starter battery chargers and cab heaters. This European Standard may also be used for accessories for other similar applications. The European Standard does not apply to: - devices used in flexible supply cables for the connection of household electrical appliances and the like to their supply; - charging of electric vehicles; or - adaptors, which are considered to be not allowed.
