The scope of the IEC 61869-1 is applicable with the following complements: This standard is a product standard and covers only additional requirements for Stand-Alone Merging Unit (SAMU) used for AC applications having rated frequencies from 15 Hz to 100 Hz. The product standard is composed using the IEC 61869-1, in addition with IEC 61869-6 and this standard. The digital output format specification is not covered by this standard. It is standardized in IEC 61869-9 as an application of the horizontal standard series IEC 61850, which details layered utility communication architecture.
