This part of IEC 62435 establishes the importance of data (storage) to long-term storage of electronic components, what sort of data needs to be stored alongside the components or die and how this should best be done to avoid loss of data during the storage period. This part describes the aspects data storage that are necessary for successful use of the component being stored while maintaining traceability or chain of custody. Long-term storage refers to a duration that may be more than 12 months for product scheduled for long duration storage. Philosophy, good working practice, and general means to facilitate the successful long-term179 storage of electronic components are also addressed.
