The scope of this Technical Report encompasses recommendations for planning, installation and operation (incl. maintenance) of PAT measuring equipment in process industry PCT safety instrumented systems. It covers all necessary steps for the qualification of safety equipment and supplements the safety management of PCT safety equipment through the addition of special requirements for PAT measuring equipment. This scope does not encompass the entire safety management of PCT safety equipment. The term “qualification” used in this recommendation refers exclusively to the testing of the suitability of the PAT system for use in a PCT safety device. It should be differentiated from the term qualification used in the pharmaceutical environment.
