This document specifies a structure for documentation of exchanged information that is required for testing and maintenance of the devices in utility substation (Communication Configuration Description CCD). It is mainly intended for equipment and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED) that communicate information according to IEC 61850 standard in at least one part of their communication flow. For example in a digital substation an optical transformer may communicate with Merging Unit via proprietary protocol which is also described in this document to fulfill the completeness of the information flow. The following communication equipment are included in the scope: - Optical instrument transformer (see 7.1.1) - Conventional instrument transformers related to IEC 61850 traffic (see 7.1.3) - Merging Units (see 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.5) - Stand Alone Merging Units (see 7.1.2 and 7.1.3, 7.5) - Protection, control and measuring devices with at least one IEC 61850 interface (see 7.1.2, 7.2.1, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5) - Switchgear Control Units (see 7.2.1, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5) - Primary equipment driven by IEC 61850 services directly or indirectly (see 7.2.1, 7.5) - IEC 61850 Time Synchronization devices (see 7.5) - PMU Phasor Measuring Unit with at least one IEC 61850 interface (see 7.1.3, 7.5) - IEC 61850 Station Gateway (Router, RTU) and station HMI (see 7.3, 7.4, 7.5) - Digtal Disturbance Recorder / Digital Fault Recorder (see 7.6) - Digital communication protocol converters with at least one IEC 61850 interface (PLC, Power Line Carrier, PTP slaves, SPA/ IEC dongles, Adapters, RTU) (see 7.7) - Protection, control and measuring devices connected to communication devices with at least one IEC 61850 interface, through a proprietary protocol (see 7.8) The following communication equipment and protocols are NOT included in the scope: - IEC 61850 Ethernet Switches and network topology - The full path of substation to substation communication. For example the description of R-GOOSE Publisher in Substation A does not include the description of R-GOOSE Subscriber in substation B. - Network Communication Scheme/layout - Functions using only hardwired communication. For example a circuit CT connected to a protection relay with hard wired tripping of a CB document. - Functions using only proprietary communication protocol systems. For example dedicated system for collecting disturbance recorder files with courier protocol or path from IEC 60870-5-103 to IEC 60870-5-101 will not be presented in this document - Protocol mappings to XMPP (IEC 61850-8-2) This document forms a supplement to other documentation standards in power utility automation. The IEC 61850 based documentation is described in Annex A. It also harmonizes the documentation of the logical data flow structures based on IEC 61850 communication among different devices in order to provide a reference document that can be created for any IEC 61850 substation. This reference documentation is supposed to be part of the delivery documentation for an IEC 61850 substation. This document focuses in principle on the visualization of the digital information exchanged between protection and control devices in automation system of power grid. The information visualization doesn’t refer to any graphical modeling but the tabular format of presentation. The data in tabular format may be used as basis for other kinds of visual presentation outside the scope of this document. With increasing amount of data exchange increases in substations the documentation, possibly including errors, can not be efficiently perceived by human users. Proper visualization of data exchanges from different entities makes the maintenance and design more reliable. For representing all kinds of substation information a single suitable tabular form is not possible to find. This document instead presents six high visual performance representation formats. Presentation formats described in this technical report provides interactive visualization that assists users in analyzing data and identifying some important and essential information in a more efficient way.
