This International Standard specifies the minimum operational, functional and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results conforming to performance standards of heading control systems to be installed on board ships adopted by IMO Resolution MSC. 64(67), Annex 3. In addition, it takes into account IMO resolution A.694(17) to which ISO 11674 is associated. When a requirement of this document is different from IEC 60945, the requirement in this document takes precedence. Also it takes into account IMO resolution MSC. 302(87) on bridge alert management (BAM). The ship models of simulator used by performance test in this document are based on the ship which has (propeller propulsion + conventional rudder) combination system with maximum navigational speed less than 30kn.
