This International Standard defines or recommends the minimum design, installation, commissioning, operation, inspection and maintenance requirements, for safety, and, where appropriate, for performance of public and non-public fueling stations that dispense gaseous hydrogen to light duty road vehicles (e.g. Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles). NOTE 1 – These requirements or recommendations are in addition to applicable national regulations and codes, which can prohibit certain aspects of this document. NOTE 2 – The dispensing of hydrogen outside the limits defined within this document, is outside the scope of this document. Therefore requirements or recommendations for dispensing of gaseous hydrogen should not be treated as applicable for example for cryogenic hydrogen dispensers. While this document is targeted for the fueling of light duty hydrogen road vehicles, requirements and guidance for fueling medium and heavy duty road vehicles (e.g. buses, trucks) are also covered. Many of the generic requirements within this Standard are applicable to fueling stations for other hydrogen applications, including but not limited to the following: • fueling stations for motorcycles, fork-lift trucks, trams, trains, fluvial and marine applications; • fueling stations with indoor dispensing; • residential applications to fuel land vehicles; • mobile fueling stations; and • non-public demonstration fueling stations.
