This International Standard specifies the classification procedures for droplet size spectra from atomisers used in spray applications for agriculture, horticultural, turf, rights of way, forestry, and vector control including a reference system for defining droplet size spectrum classes. Considering that several measuring systems for droplet sizing give different results dependent on their function principle and individual setup, this standard defines a means to compare measured droplet size spectra to a reference spectra. Therefore relative comparisons can be made for droplet size spectra obtained from different measuring systems. Using the classification of droplet size spectra it is possible also to provide appropriate information to the user of the nozzle/atomiser.
