The proposed standard will cover the requirements for the professional, safe and secure management of moveable cultural heritage. It will set out specifications for determining policies and procedures for managing conservation, documentation, development, information, care and access such that the needs of the collections and users are met. It will relate to objects and collections owned by a museum, gallery, archive or library and to loans from outside the organisations for temporary exhibition. It will be applicable to the management of any size or type of moveable cultural heritage collection. The standard will take into account the latest thinking on environmental energy efficiency, sustainability and documentation for the long term protection of collections.
