This part of IEC 60099 applies to non-linear metal-oxide resistor type surge arresters with spark gaps designed to limit voltage surges on a.c. power circuits with system voltages Us above 1 kV up to and including 52kV. This standard basically applies to all metal-oxide distribution class surge arresters with internal series and/or parallel gaps and housed in either 301 porcelain or polymeric housings.
