These guidelines focus on the following topics/processes:

— exhaust pre-treatment

— absorbtion with use of chemicals/amines

— aftertreatment systems of the CO₂ stream

— liquefaction process

— CO₂ storage in liquid form and transfer systems

— solidification/ solid-liquid separation process

— other methods for carbon capture.

These guidelines focuses on the use of absorption and desorption or solidification with the use of amines/chemicals as capture methods.

Due to the potential large numbers of CCS technologies and combination of these, requirements for such system designs will be decided on separate evaluation based on the principles of these guidelines.

The guidelines are not including assessment of the efficiency of the carbon capture processes.

These guidelines contains the applicable requirements which the Society's OCCS systems will be evaluated against when installed onboard DNV classed ships.
