This document describes the procedures and requirements for obtaining of TA certificate for spark arrester. TA in accordance with this class programme is not mandatory, but may be used as an alternative to case-by-case design approvals for spark arresters to be installed on vessels and offshore units classed with the Society.

This class programme does not set the design requirements to the spark arresters. The procedures and requirements described in this class programme are applicable for obtaining the Society's type approval (TA) certificate based on requirements given in one of the standards mentioned in Table 2
