Scope of application

This specification applies to verification during the asset owner's control of the process leading up to the completion of a physical asset, and further during the lifetime of the asset until abandonment.

This specification is primarily aimed at oil and gas related facilities and installations located onshore or offshore. The principles may also be applied to general industrial developments.

This specification may be adopted for full field development, particular phases of an asset realisation process or for particular elements. The owner may chose to utilise DNV's resources for all or selected parts of the scope.

DNV's Risk Based Verification services may be carried out on assets specified in:

- DNV's Offshore Standards,

- International or national standards, or

- Owner's specification
