This chapter provides specifications for design loads to determine scantlings of hull structural elements. These design loads may be obtained from design formulas given in this document or from direct calculations of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. The dynamic portions of these design loads may be applied only within the design concept of the rules.

In addition to environmental loads and loads from normal vessel operation, military loads defined by the naval authority shall be submitted if considered in the classification of the naval vessel. Basic load values for military loads are given in Sec.4 [4] and Sec.4 [5].
