Introduction
Det Norskc Veritas (DNV) has been appointed by the the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as one of the Nominated Bodies (NB) authorised to undertake type approval of Marine Equipment. This delegation is provided to DNV's British Committee under the UK Statutory Instrument (1996) No. 147. This came into effect on the !st March 1996.
The details of the scheme are provided in the Merchant S hipping Notice No. MSN 1735 (M+F) Amendments No. 2. This certification note is provided to describe the system and its operation within DNV's Certification Services.
DNV provides its own type approval of equipment. This service is described in the Ce1tification Note No. l .2 - Type Approval.
