Scope of work

General 

The scope of approval for accommodation and escape measures according to Ch.4 and Annex 10 of the 2000 HSC Code will be decided on a case by case basis depending on authorisation. 

Classification 

All relevant requirements for accommodation and escape measures, addressed by Ch.4 and Annex 10 of the International Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft (2000), as amended, (hereafter referred to as the 2000 HSC Code) shall be complied with.

The Society will not enforce its own requirements related to equipment and arrangements for assignment of main class. 

HSC safety certificate

The government of the flag state is responsible for ensuring that the craft is provided with the accommodation and escape measures required by the 2000 HSC Code.

When the Society has been authorized by the government of the flag state to issue HSC safety certificate, requirements in Sec.2 shall apply as the Society's basis for stating compliance with Ch.4 and Annex 10 of the 2000 HSC Code. 

Where the Government of the flag state has not authorized the Society to issue the HSC Safety Certificate on their behalf, the Society will only require either written confirmation from the flag state that the HSC certificate will be issued by them or that a copy of the HSC certificate shall be submitted for the Society's files. Based on this copy, the vessel will be assigned main class.
