Introduction
The following rules apply to diver pressure chambers (treatment chambers, and transportable chambers) which are intended for recompression, emergency treatment, rescue purposes or transport of divers under pressure and which are constructed under survey of and in conformity with these rules . They also apply to all equipment necessary for safe operation of the diver pressure chambers.
On application by the manufacturer or operator, diver pressure chamber systems built in accordance with this chapter may be classed with the Society and receive the class notation UWT DPC.
If pressure chamber systems are operated onshore, the buildings, power generating plantsand other support facilities are required to comply with the relevant national regulations of the country in which the facilities are established. If the system is installed on a ship or an offshore structure the requirements of the relevant flag administration shall be met.
Designs other than those stated in these rules may be approved provided their suitability has been verified by the Society and they have been recognised as equivalent or better.
The Society reserves the right to impose requirements additional to those contained in the rules in respect of all types of systems should this become necessary in the light of new knowledge or practical experience or to sanction exceptions to the rules in specially justified cases.
National regulations have to be observed in addition to the Society'srules.
