Yachts shall meet the requirements of SHIP Pt.4 Systems and Components .
The exceptions from this principle and/or special, deviating requirements for yachts are defined in this section.
Designs which deviate from the rules may be approved provided that such designs have been examined by the Society for suitability and have been recognized as equivalent.
Certification
System and components which are not type approved by the Society shall be case by case approved and certified according to relevant rules.
Machinery systems and components shall be certified according to the requirements in the relevant rule chapters. Additionally, products shall be certified as required in the following:
— < 500 GT or <12 passengers: PC (defined in SHIP Pt.1 Ch.3 Sec.5)
— >= 500 GT or >= 12 passengers: TA (defined in SHIP Pt.1 Ch.3 Sec.5)
