Objective and scope

General

As the UK regulations are 'goal setting' and aim for continual safety improvement, the regulations cannot be fully transferred into prescriptive technical requirements. However, it is possible to identify major points that shall be considered, and to provide services toward fulfilment. The objective of this document is to provide a general statement of the services DNV GL can provide for UK compliance, with reference to how these services can be used with classification. This includes, but is not limited to:

a) Consultancy services:

Safety engineering during design and construction, risk analysis and assessment, PFEER assessment, identification of safety and environmental-critical elements and performance standards, ALARP methodology, safety case preparation.

b) Verification services:

Actions as appointed verifier, review of list of safety and environmental-critical elements and performance standards, drafting or review of verification schemes, implementation of verification activities, maintenance and revision of verification schemes. It is expected in the regulations that the verifier is consulted during the drafting of the scheme and performance standards.
