This Standard describes the requirements for paper and film-paper dielectric capacitors with other than poly chlorinated byphenyl (PCB) impregnants, hermetically sealed in metal cases for general purpose applications on ac voltages. They are intended for use with motors, high intensity discharge (HID) lighting ballasts, ferro resonant transformer power supplies, some power factor correction, and other. applications. The capacitors are rated for service in 50 Hz or 60 Hz circuits and may be operated at case temperatures shown in 3.4.
