The scope of the document is relevant for the full EHPS. Furthermore, specific sections in this document have a limited scope to the electric engine only. Depending on the scope of the Type Certificate (TC) of the applicant, the EHPS can be split into sub-systems for the scope of the Endurance Test.

PURPOSE OF THE DOCUMENT

Since EASA published the Special Condition (SC) for Electric Hybrid Propulsion Systems (EHPS) SC E-19, Means of Compliance (MoC) need to be defined for this Special Condition. Relevant guidance needs to be developed so the industry applicants can produce meaningful compliance demonstration evidence for this Special Condition, accepted by EASA.

The objective of the document is to propose a MoC for SC E-19 EHPS.420 Endurance Demonstration and to publish a EUROCAE Guidance document accepted by EASA and the FAA.

Each applicant aiming to show compliance to SC E-19 endurance is invited to use this document as guideline where a generic method is proposed. Use cases are presented to illustrate the method, however it is up to each applicant to adapt the demonstration to its context and obtain acceptance of its MoC from the authorities.
