Purpose and Scope

This document provides guidance for Aerodrome Mapping Database (AMDB) generation. It is aligned with EUROCAE ED-99B / RTCA DO-272B, User Requirements for Aerodrome Mapping Information, and EUROCAE ED-119A / RTCA DO-291A, Interchange Standards for Terrain, Obstacle and Aerodrome Mapping Data. Updates and changes resulting from new revisions ED-99C / DO-272C and ED-119B / DO-291B as listed in APPENDIX B are not considered and not included in this document, but may follow in a subsequent version.

The document complements the EUROCAE/RTCA AMDB standards with additional information and examples. The intended users of this document include data originators and those who are interested in more information regarding the AMDB origination process. Although these guidelines are based on the above mentioned EUROCAE/RTCA documents, they do not replace them, as this material was written for guidance purposes only.

Conventions

Even though this document provides guidance only, the following terms are used to refer to compliance with ED-99B / DO-272B or ED-119A / DO-291A:

• The term "should" implies that compliance is not required, but is strongly recommended by ED-99B / DO-272B or ED-119A / DO-291A.

• The term "shall" means that compliance is required by ED-99B / DO-272B or ED-119A / DO-291A.

In these cases, a reference to the original is given.

In addition this document includes recommendations that are not specified in ED-99B / DO-272B or ED-119A / DO-291A. They are identified by the use of the term "recommend".
