INTRODUCTION

The minimum performance requirements specified herein are designed to ensure that aircraft equipment approved as complying with. them, will be compatible with the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices in respect of SSR. Environmental test requirements have been specified in respect of the electrical parameters which experience has shown to be particularly susceptible to the effects of environment.

Demonstration of compliance with certain of the requirements of this specification may involve somewhat complex test procedures, e. g. where simultaneous variation of r. f. input level and of pulse interval is called for. Suitable test procedures in respect of these requirements have been formulated, and are included in Chapter 5. Alternative procedures providing equivalent integrity may be used.
