Heat Insulating sleeves are made up of a refractory material, capable of withstanding direct contact with molten iron and steel. They can be utilised for nodular cast-iron and steel by reducing the outgoing heat flow thereby maintaining a head of molten metal. Such sleeves are placed within the mould in feeder locations.
