1. SCOPE

The material defined by this specification is a high expansion hydraulic hose. This specification covers 7 types of hose fabricated from fabric and synthetic rubber, assembled with end fittings for use in automotive power steering applications as flexible connections. Types 1, 2, 3 hose shall be designed to operate through a temperature range of -40 to +135 C when used under environmental working conditions. These hoses shall also withstand intermittent temperatures up to 149 C. Types 4, 5, 6, 7 hose shall be designed to operate through a temperature range of -40 to +149 C when used under environmental working conditions. These hoses shall also withstand intermittent temperatures up to 163 C. Types 1, 4, 7 Hose shall be suitable for 10.3 MPa max working pressure. Types 2, 5 Hose shall be suitable for 9.6 MPa max working pressure. Types 3, 6 Hose shall be suitable for 8.9 MPa max working pressure.
