1. SCOPE
This specification defines the requirements to determine the degrading effect that accelerated environmental aging (i. e. simulating storage and/or field conditions) may have on automotive interior materials with respect to:
1.1 The permanency of materials' flame retardant properties that must conform to the FMVSS No. 302 after accelerated environmental aging.
1.2 The changes in mechanical, chemical and physical properties after accelerated environmental aging of materials that have been treated with flame retardants, modified or reformulated to conform to the FMVSS No. 302 flammability requirement.
