1. SCOPE
The material defined by the A1 specification consists of cellulose fibers bonded with nitrile butadiene rubber and totally encapsulated with chloroprene rubber. The material defined by the A2 specification consists of cellulose fiber and mineral fillers bonded with nitrile butadiene rubber and encapsulated with a layer of styrene butadiene rubber and nitrile butadiene rubber. The encapsulation is added to both base materials to aid in sealing flange microfinish and to prevent migration of automatic transmission fluid through the gasket.
