1. SCOPE

This standard defines acceptable noise limits for all "equipment" purchased by Ford or fabricated for installation at a Ford facility, including vehicles, machines, power tools, facility items, and various systems (both production and non-production). THE PURPOSE OF THE STANDARD IS PROTECTION OF EMPLOYEE HEARING. Equipment purchased for outdoor use (such as cooling towers and pumps) must also be purchased with operating noise levels which will not adversely affect the environment at the site boundaries, as defined by the specific state or local community involved. This standard applies to all North American facilities unless locally applicable requirements are more restrictive.
