This specification covers the performance of male threaded fasteners with dry film microencapsulated adhesive compound applied to the thread.

LIMITATIONS

The adhesive bonds during initial installation and provides no bonding if the fastener is removed and reinstalled.

Some torque control lubricants may affect adhesion of the compound to the threads. In those cases, it may be advantageous to apply the adhesive material prior to the torque control lubricant. It is recommended that the processing path be agreed between the fastener maker, surface finisher, and adhesive applicator to meet the Ford requirements.

SERVICE TEMPERATURE

The maximum long term service temperature is 80°C based on the strength of the adhesive bond to common finishes at elevated temperatures. Some combinations of adhesives and finishes have higher service temperatures.
