1 Scope and Application . . This test method shall be used to determine the shearing strength of teeth on tooth belts. It shall enable to measure the force at which the fabric cover on the teeth of the tooth belt starts to tear. The dynamic load to which-the tooth belt is subjected to in the vehicle means that even a small crack in the fabric can lead to tearing propagation, eventually causing the entire tooth to shear off. This test shall -be- performed. in .as . received condition and after thermal aging or aging in oil.
