Introduction
Purpose. Description of friction coefficient characteristics of disk and drum brake pads with regard to the influence of pressure, temperature and speed.
Foreword. The AK - Master Test Schedule describes friction coefficient characteristics of brake pads for disks and drums with regard to the influence of pressure, temperature and speed. This test schedule is used as a standard program for the development and release of brake pads. The AK - Master Test Schedule includes 15 standardized tests, e.g. bedding-in programs, characteristics determination (recovery steps, speed steps, fading steps and temperature steps). The definition of a friction coefficient and scattering range shows if the friction coefficients of the tested brake pads are within or out of the defined range (see Appendix A).
Applicability. Brake pads for disks and drums consisting of gray cast iron of the complete vehicle range.
Definitions. Not applicable.
Note: Nothing in the specification, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained.
Note: In the event of a conflict between the German and the English language, the German language shall take precedence.
