This specification defines the requirements and tests of flexible flat wiring.
The flexible flat wires are distinguished between flexible printed wires, the so called Flexible Printed Circuits FPC and the flexible flat wires, the so called Flexible Flat Cables FFC.
The FPC-Technology is a free structured flatware, produced i.e. in subtraction method. In comparison, the FFC-Technology always shows grinded or cutted parallel copper conductors.
In dependence of the production method, the FFC-Technology is distinguished in the following two sub-terms:
Flexible Laminated Cables FLC consists of copper strips which are laminated between two foils. The Extruded Flat Cables EFC are produced similar to the round conductors where the flat copper strips are isolated in an extrusion process.
