1 Scope

1.1 Background All automotive electrical/electronic subsystems and components have some common characteristics and must fulfil some global requirements derived from the vehicle environment. This allows to create a set of standards describing the common requirements for any kind of electrical/electronic equipment. Due to a more and more complex structure of vehi-cle electrical/electronic equipment, it is convenient to divide such a standard into different areas of re-quirements; with this document covering all general electrical demands.
