This test specification defines the requirements, the test conditions and the test methods for functional, environmental and durability tests of Motorized Safety Belt Systems (MSBS) and components as used in motor vehicles and referred to as MSBS in the following.

The MSBS basically consist of the following components. The requirements for these components are defined in the additional parts of this test specification :

Part 2 : Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

Part 3 : Motor and Drive System

Part 4 : Inhibitor

Further requirements for other components are laid down in the following specifications :

Wiring Harness according to EDS-T-5241

Switches according to EDS-T-5226

Belts, Mechanical Parts according to applicable legal requirements

For the applicable test specifications, material requirements, form, dimensions and surface treatment, refer to part drawings.

In addition to these requirements, the MSBS and all components must meet or exceed the legal requirements of all countries where they are used, especially the requirements of the latest versions of FMVSS 208, FMVSS 209 and FMVSS 210.
