This specification details the requirements for hot stamped foil finishes on plastic components used for interior and exterior applications on automobiles. This form of finish should only be used on surfaces not subjected to excessive wear and where the anticipated service temperature for the part does not normally exceed +85°C.
Two types of finish are specified. Type A for parts used externally and type B for internal parts. Unless otherwise specified the following requirements apply to both types.
This form of finish shall be used for decorative effects on interior body trim components (i.e. control knobs, instrument facias, etc.) and i.e. badges for both internal and external applications.
