The standard shall be used to determine the hardness of elastic foam material, where the size of the test piece precludes the use of other standard methods.

The test results obtained by measurements on test piece of different shapes, at different locating or by the use of different sized indentors are not relatively comparable.

The test results obtained by measurements on test piece of similar shape, but of different cellular structure are comparable, providing measuring conditions are identical.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this standard is to determine the indentation hardness of foam material and enable to understand the test method accurately and elevate reliability for the test results.
