1 SCOPE.
This specification covers the physical, chemical and performance requirements for an ether-ester type solvent formerly used for paint reduction and other purposes. Cellosolve acetate is also identified chemically as 2-ethoxyethanol acetate. Because of potential health hazards associated with ingestion of this solvent, it has been banned from use in paint materials used at General Motors production facilities. Use in any other application must be evaluated for exposure of personnel.
